LEKE PIPING / TECHNICAL CALCULATOR
Steel pipe weight calculator.
Calculate theoretical weight from outside diameter, wall thickness, length and density. For carbon steel, stainless steel and alloy steel pipe, using the density appropriate to your grade.

Outer diameter and wall thickness follow your inputs. Preview length is compressed for visibility unless true proportions are selected. The calculation always uses the full entered length.
METHOD & ASSUMPTIONS
How the weight is calculated.
Inside diameter = D − 2t
Weight per metre = π ÷ 4 × [D² − (D − 2t)²] × ρ × 10⁻⁶
D and t are in millimetres; density ρ is in kg/m³. The result is kg/m. One-pipe weight = kg/m × length in metres. Total weight = one-pipe weight × quantity.
The calculation assumes a uniform, plain circular tube with constant density and wall thickness. It excludes coatings, linings, threads, couplings, weld reinforcement, machining allowances, packing and dimensional tolerances. Density presets are estimating assumptions; enter the specified material density when known.
BEFORE ORDERING
Use the result with your specification.
Can I use NPS directly as the outside diameter?
No. NPS is a nominal designation. Enter the actual outside diameter and wall thickness from the applicable dimension table or approved drawing.
Does this confirm material or product compliance?
No. The calculator estimates geometric weight only. Material grade, the governing standard, testing and acceptance requirements must be confirmed separately.
Why can actual weight differ?
Actual diameter, wall thickness, density, coatings and manufacturing tolerances can differ from the inputs. Use confirmed order data for final shipping and quotation weights.
Why does changing density change the weight?
The tool multiplies the calculated metal volume by the selected density. Material presets are estimating assumptions; enter a verified density when a specific material value is required.
Why is the displayed pipe shorter than the entered length?
The normal view compresses the displayed length to make the bore and wall easier to inspect. The calculation still uses the entered length; use the true-length option to inspect that proportion.
What should I check when an input is rejected?
Check that dimensions, length and density are positive, the wall is less than half the outside diameter, and quantity is a positive whole number. Also confirm the selected units.
Does the estimate include coating, packing or other components?
No. The result represents the pipe metal described by the inputs. Add separately verified allowances for coatings, packaging and other shipment components where required.
